Grammar Rules & Patterns
Adjective Placement
Sustantivo + Adjetivo
In Spanish, the describing word (adjetivo) almost always comes AFTER the thing it is describing (sustantivo). Think: 'the house big' instead of 'the big house'.
Gender Agreement
el + sustantivo (-o) + adjetivo (-o) / la + sustantivo (-a) + adjetivo (-a)
If a noun is masculine (uses 'el'), its adjective should usually end in -o. If a noun is feminine (uses 'la'), its adjective should usually end in -a.
Number Agreement
If the noun ends in -s, the adjective must also end in -s.
If you are talking about more than one thing (plural), you must add an -s to both the noun and the adjective to make them match.
