Grammar Rules & Patterns

Using 'Estar' for Location Subject + está/están + preposition + location. Always use the verb 'estar' (not 'ser') to talk about the location of people, places, and things. Use 'está' for one thing and 'están' for more than one. Giving Commands (Usted form) For -AR verbs, change the ending to -e. For -ER/-IR verbs, change the ending to -a. When you give directions to someone you don't know well, it's polite to use the formal 'usted' command. For example, 'doblar' becomes 'doble' and 'seguir' becomes 'siga'.
