Formation of the Present Subjunctive (Regular Verbs)
1. Start with the 'yo' form of the present indicative (e.g., hablar -> hablo). 2. Drop the final '-o' (habl-). 3. Add the 'opposite' vowel endings: '-e, -es, -e, -emos, -éis, -en' for -AR verbs, and '-a, -as, -a, -amos, -áis, -an' for -ER/-IR verbs.
This three-step process is the foundation for conjugating the vast majority of verbs in the present subjunctive. It must be used in a subordinate clause following a specific trigger.
