This is the fundamental structure for talking about hypothetical situations. The 'si' clause uses the imperfect subjunctive, and the main clause (the result) uses the conditional. The clauses can be reversed, but the comma is removed: [Main Clause] si [If-Clause]. Forming the Imperfect Subjunctive 1. Start with the 3rd person plural (ellos/ellas) of the preterite tense. 2.
