Grammar Rules & Patterns

Boy Words and Girl Words (El / La) Use 'el' for boy words. Use 'la' for girl words. In Spanish, words are like boys or girls. 'El' is for words that often end in -o. 'La' is for words that often end in -a. Colors Must Match! The color word changes to match the clothing word. If the clothing word is a 'girl' word (la), the color often ends in -a too! Example: la camisA rojA. More Than One? Add an 's'! Use 'los' or 'las' and add an 's' to the words. When you have more than one item, add an 's'. Use 'los' for boy groups and 'las' for girl groups. Example: los zapatoS rojoS.
